Together, We Are Always Better
I am honored to share that Real Chemistry has been named to the Great Place to Work® (GPTW) Fortune Best Workplaces for Women™ – our first time being named to this list in our first year of being a certified Great Place to Work. This distinguished achievement recognizes organizations that stand apart from their peers in creating a workplace that goes above and beyond for their female employees. The rankings are determined by employee surveys and the representation of women within each organization. What makes this recognition especially meaningful to me is that the results are based on the opinions of those who matter most – our people! At the end of the day, we are a people-driven business, and together we are always better.
Over the last two decades since Real Chemistry was founded, we have seen unparalleled growth – the type of growth that is only possible when you bring together extraordinary individuals in an environment where they feel empowered to help make the changes they want to see. More than 75% of our employees are women. At Real Chemistry, we strive to foster an environment where people feel heard, are valued and have equal opportunities and benefits, regardless of their gender, gender identity, national origin, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, age or ability status.
The GPTW survey data showed that 93% of our people agree that individuals here are treated fairly, regardless of their gender. As I reflect on this, I am proud to be part of an organization that is dedicated to making an impact for our people in all the right ways – while recognizing there is much work still to do. The survey of our employees also showed that:
-
87% favorably noted the community we’ve built
-
86% feel camaraderie at Real Chemistry
-
85% feel supported by Real Chemistry
-
84% believe that employees at Real Chemistry are treated with respect and fairness
This work is continuous though, and through reflective and active listening, we provide spaces where people can help us identify ways of working that foster equity and inclusivity for all. Through our collaborative Business Resource Groups (BRGs), that focus on all under-represented populations, we provide safe spaces for people to connect, collaborate and feel empowered to make positive change.
At Real Chemistry, we want our people to come to work and feel like they can be their authentic selves. Women’s experiences in particular are often shaped by balancing so many critical roles. Likewise, I play many roles: I have a demanding career, I am a mother of two daughters, a wife, a caregiver to my mom, a mentor, and an involved community member. I also have friends and colleagues that have even more to juggle than I do and some with less support to carry the load. I take pride in knowing that our organization is finding new ways every day to create equitable opportunities for all our people and provide support for well-being at every stage of life. I have always been a big believer in work-life integration, before that was even an official term, and have blogged for years about what I used to call the work-life blend. I have always seen work and life as linked together, and I have mentored many other women coming up the ranks to do the same.
The pandemic was tragic in many ways, but it also shined a light on the juggle of life and work for everyone to experience, see, appreciate, and support. I am proud to support programs and initiatives that make our women feel supported throughout every stage of their careers because their talent is vitally important. These include:
-
Flexible work solutions: Employees can work from one of our offices, be fully remote or take a hybrid approach.
-
Innovative programs and benefits that support parental leave: These programs include generous paid parental leave, curated support for new parents, flexible paid time off and extensive health and well-being benefits for every stage of life. We are also proud to offer a program called “The Fourth Trimester,” which provides support for families transitioning back from family leave to the workplace.
-
Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) BRG: This group fosters supportive professional relationships and creates forums to engage in conversations on career and leadership growth. It also advocates for creating a sustainable pathway for women in leadership and works closely with other BRGs at Real Chemistry to advocate for more inclusive business practices.
-
Lean-In Circles: Inspired and supported by the infrastructure set up by the national Lean-In organization, these groups are created, curated and led by our own people and focused on a variety of themes – from meeting with other “powerful working mamas,” to a “smile daily” circle, to “women of color maneuvering managerial roles.”
-
ACE Program: Accelerate. Connect. Engage. This is one of Real Chemistry’s signature programs for rising star women to build critical skills to enhance their leadership potential. The program includes coaching and discussions with external leaders from multiple industries.
I am proud of the support that Real Chemistry gives to all our employees. We know that if our people feel truly supported, they have endless opportunities to be excellent in their work and make those around us better.
Speaking of being better, our work family is continuing to grow. If you value being part of a team, want to help lead positive change, believe in accountability, strive for excellence and want to make a serious impact in health care communications and technology, we want to hear from you.
