“¡Que Buena Química! (“What a Good Chemistry!”)
One year ago, during Hispanic Heritage Month, we launched HOLA. Since then, we have focused on establishing this business resource group (BRG), aligning on our mission and vision, developing short- and long-term objectives, and forming committees. Additionally, we hosted a mix of inspiring cultural events and self-development programs to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month, highlighting the ways in which our diverse make-up adds to the chemistry and connection between our people. Now, in our second year of programming, we are determined to be more purposeful and cast a wider net beyond serving our Real Chemistry Hispanic/Latinx constituency with the goal of serving a greater purpose beyond our virtual walls.
During Hispanic Heritage Month 2022, our programming aims to inform, educate, inspire and motivate people to take action to make the world a healthier place. To kick off the celebration, we are partnering with Real Chemistry’s Health Equity and Justice team for a two-part series called Rooted that will focus on the state of Hispanic health. This series will explore challenges faced by the more than 60 million U.S. Hispanics – who account for nearly 20% of the population – and opportunities for the health care industry to connect with them.
The first part of Rooted will feature a panel of multicultural health experts who will discuss social determinants of health and uncover cultural barriers that limit health care access. The second part will focus on how Real Chemistry can address some of these barriers by working closely with our clients on developing culturally relevant bilingual communication programs, marketing and educational materials, and activation strategies. We will showcase our most recent and innovative client work that effectively addresses the unique needs of the fastest-growing segment of the population—another example of how our unique blend of chemistry not only enriches our culture, but our work as well. We hope this series will inspire more health care clients to design campaigns that are more strategic and inclusive.
In addition to Rooted, we will be hosting “Hora de Café,” a fun and engaging virtual speed networking session for HOLA members and allies, and co-hosting “Centered Leadership,” a career development workshop, in partnership with Noir and Enlight, our Black and African American and Asian and Pacific Islander BRGs, respectively. As a final celebration of culture and diversity during Hispanic Heritage Month, HOLA members will share their favorite family recipes in our first HOLA Cookbook, “¡Que Buena Química!”, as we know much connection can also be facilitated over the sharing of food!
We hope you will join us in one or all of our activities that will take place between September 15 and October 15, as we look forward to celebrating all the wonderful people, traditions, and cultures in our Hispanic and LatinX community at Real Chemistry. Keep an eye out on our social channels to join in on the celebration!
