  • Podcast Series Kicks-Off with Gaming Mega-Influencer Andrea Rene

NEW YORK – April 5, 2023 –This week 21GRAMS, part of Real Chemistry, is launching a new podcast series that provides robust conversations on the intersectional connection of healthcare and gaming. The new series will be hosted by lifelong gamer and 21GRAMS’ Vice President and Strategy Director Devon Taylor, who serves as principal of the company’s 21Gaming discipline. Together with leading voices from both gaming and healthcare industries, Taylor will dive into topics on the ways gaming brings healing, connection and community together to not only improve the journeys of patients, caregivers and their medical teams but ultimately improve healthcare outcomes.

“We are committed to providing our clients with the most innovative and impactful set of tools for helping reach patients, caregivers, and providers,” says Devon. “I know from not only my personal experience, but also from our research and proprietary business insights that our clients’ patient populations tend to over-index for gaming as much as 200 percent more than the general population. We want to help our clients meet audiences where they are by delivering innovative, incredible immersive experiences that patients want, but also need.”

From interactive in-game advertising to inclusive adaptable gaming tools, guests will share the latest trends in immersive game play, platform development and case studies of how gaming and healthcare are coming together more and more every day. Each episode will include today’s biggest creators, industry veterans and personalities to discuss connecting with patients with healthcare experiences in novel ways, and how gaming can exponentially expand engagement with patients and their caregivers. The podcast will launch a new episode during the first week of every month.

Why now? Gaming spans all ages, genders, sexual orientations, abilities and races, with over 3 billion gamers worldwide generating nearly $200 billion in revenue in 2022. The stereotypical profile of a gamer has been turned upside down, with gamers now averaging 35 years old and a nearly 50/50 split male and female. Gamers are making critical healthcare decisions for themselves and their family as both patients and caregivers. They value gaming as a primary mode of connection with friends and loved ones to form community and share common experiences.

“It’s ironic that we’re launching this podcast on April 5, as it will be my son’s second birthday," says Taylor. "It was during the early weeks of his life that gaming got me through my postpartum depression and anxiety. It was this experience that cemented for me the power that gaming has in our health.”
