Real Chemistry showed up strong at SXSW 2023 for our 13th year of healthcare programming. We brought together a record number of clients, partners and healthcare innovators for SXSW’s Health & MedTech Track, hosting a lineup of insightful panel discussions and podcast conversations.

With AI and ideas at the core of what we do at Real Chemistry, our content and programming continue to focus on healthcare innovation and the evolution of technical advances in the healthcare and medical fields. At SXSW 2023, Real Chemistry amplified the voices of those working to change healthcare for the better by putting patients first.

HealthTok: Inspiring Health & Trends #ForYou

As consumers flock to TikTok for self-expression and finding a community, physicians are also taking to the platform to bust medical myths and educate on public health issues. While docs using social media isn’t anything new, their ability to make relatable videos and educate a broader community in real-time is. As healthcare professionals use the platform to improve health outcomes and motivate patients, they’ve created a shift in how we learn about our health and connect globally with experts.  

In this engaging discussion, Real Chemistry brought together the full HealthTok ecosystem including a healthcare brand representative who is using the platform to educate consumers, an OB/GYN who uses the platform to empower her patients and a TikTok business strategist who understands the importance of the intersection of healthcare, culture and technology. Together, they shared how #HealthTok is making a difference. 

Real Chemistry Healthcare Innovation Day

Real Chemistry hosted a one-day only event featuring insightful panel discussions, opportunities to build community and meaningful connections with leaders in healthcare. Sessions elevated voices of the individuals, organizations and partnerships working to change the face of healthcare and drive innovation for patients.

A behind-the-scenes perspective from panelists who reflect on their collaboration to bring development tools, AI and mixed reality into the operating room. 

How to Open Minds, Move Hearts & Change the World 

The ability to lead and drive the public conversation is a rock-hard competency. Hear from a leader at a biopharmaceutical powerhouse about the ten principles developed over nearly four decades in communications, politics and business to build trust in science as she shaped the narrative around a corporate response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Home: Our Health Hub of the Future 

Out of necessity, our homes have emerged as critical hubs for health. From trust and privacy, health literacy and community collaboration, this group of innovators discusses how life science companies can develop relationships with patients as people in a pragmatic conversation now and in the future. 

Combining Passion with Purpose to Impact Patients 

This session dives into what it means to be a leader at a purpose-driven organization, providing an authentic perspective on how a company’s mission to transform lives can serve as a north star for employees. 

The Healthcare Experience of 2030 

Healthcare gurus are battling the odds to bring a consumer-centric experience to the patient. This panel explores how companies are accelerating the transformation of care delivery and consumption through strategic partnerships and thoughtful implementation of technology. 

Real Chemistry Podcast Lounge Takeover

Real Chemistry took over the SXSW Podcast Lounge to record featured discussions in front of a live studio audience. The sessions highlighted the voices of innovative healthcare thought leaders who are changing the industry. From generative AI to using innovative data for clinical trial recruitment to gamification within healthcare, speakers shared new advances that are revolutionizing the way we serve our patient communities.

Generative AI: Oh God What Now? 

With tools like ChatGPT and DALL-E dominating news cycles, many people – especially those working in creative jobs – are wondering if they will soon be replaced by the technology known as generative AI. This session discusses the impact generative AI is having on the healthcare space and where AI is headed in the next 6-12 months. 

Gaming and Healthcare: Unusual Bedfellows 

This session covers the emerging need for healthcare brands to be represented in the gaming space, such as why the patient-first approach is critical, what patients expect to see and how we meaningfully engage them with brands. 

Innovating Data Approaches for Clinical Trial Recruitment

This session discusses a range of innovative data sources for clinical trial recruitment, such as online platforms, real world data and social networks, and how they can be used to find the right candidates for a study.  

A Day in the Life of a Biopharmaceutical Leader

This session showcases key stories and perspectives on what a day in the life of a leader at Bristol Myers Squibb looks like. From their experiences and challenges, to how their focus on patients drives them to continue to strive in their role during these truly complicated times. 

The Female Quotient’s Equality Lounge @ SXSW

Being Unapologetic: The Key to Getting There and Staying There 

Real Chemistry joined The Female Quotient’s Equality Lounge @ SXSW to discuss what it looks like to create and to find your space in what can sometimes feel like a sea of sameness. Speakers in this session get candid about the intersection of their personal and professional journeys to making an impact while bringing their full selves to their work.
