Changing Out Loud: A Discussion of Real: Health Equity
Health equity is by far one of the most challenging issues facing society today. To provide a unique forum for candid conversation around the real challenges, opportunities and solutions that will advance health equity in 2022, the Real Chemistry Global Inclusion & Health Equity team is proud to host the inaugural Real: Health Equity Summit on January 12-13, 2022.
The theme of the Summit is Changing Out Loud – how centering health equity as an organizational imperative drives both business and societal value.
This virtual event will convene great minds who are committed to acting on the shared responsibility necessary to properly address the major health challenge today of equity. The level and breadth of speakers from across the health ecosystem who will participate is impressive. Featured speakers include:
-
Dr. Michelle McMurry-Heath, President and CEO of Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO)
-
Wayne Frederick, MD, MBA, FACS, President of Howard University
-
Aletha Maybank, MD, MPH, Chief Health Equity Officer, SVP of American Medical Association (AMA)

During the Real: Health Equity Summit, we’ll address the following key questions:
-
What does sustained, systemic change really look like?
-
Where does accountability belong in the health equity trajectory?
-
What is the business impact of diversifying the human genome database?
-
What lessons can we learn from the global response to COVID-19?
-
Why is decolonization/deconstructing of clinical trials and global health essential?
-
What are meaningful metrics to track progress?
As you know well, despite widespread calls for advancing health equity and a wave of commitments from organizations to drive equal access to health and improved outcomes for all, real change remains elusive. We expect the discussion during the Summit to get “real” about ways the biopharma industry, academia, health care providers, local communities, venture capital firms and the public sector can collaborate to drive long-term change across the health ecosystem.
We look forward to providing more information about the Summit in the coming weeks.
We hope you can join us!
